Today’s alphabet post comes in with “E” standing for “E”nthusiasm! Enthusiasm, is something felt when we get excited about something, or have that energy needed to accomplish a goal, task, project, whatever it may be. What was interesting about writing about this was that it ties into my post about “D”termination that I wrote yesterday. Enthusiasm usually comes from being happy about doing something, having the ultimate goal of succeeding, and being determined to get it done. Enthusiasm should be an enjoyable feeling, one that gives you satisfaction for a job well done, or relief when something is over.
But sometimes Enthusiasm can take the darker side as well. We might be enthusiastic about a fellow Olympic country falling in a race, so ours can win, we might be enthusiastic about getting a job done, but not necessarily enjoying it (like cleaning out the garage). Enthusiasm is one of those emotions that seems like it can be the best of the best, but when it’s at its worst, can make us look evil among those that know us.
Good kinds of enthusiasm:
- Being Patriotic
- Being Determined in doing something good!
- Hoping for a boy or a girl if you don’t know the results
Bad kinds of enthusiasm:
- Wishing harm while being Patriotic
- Determined to do something bad
- Suggestive to others for your own gain
In yesterdays post I discussed Determination, and with that, I am enthusiastic about accomplishing the goals I have set forth for myself, and that is where it becomes important, Determination is such a strong emotion on its own, but I think it pairs well with Enthusiasm to give us that extra boost we need to push forward, and be happy. No matter what, losing enthusiasm for life, or things around it can be such a negative impact on other emotions that we have to balance in our lives everyday. And often times it really helps to get others around you to be enthusiastic with you, it only builds the intensity and drives the will.
