There is a group of fans that are trying to restore a bridge set based on the Enterprise-D from Star Trek, their mission is simple, to preserve a piece of TV/Movie history, for the fans!
There are different levels of support you can provide from $5 on up, and there are rewards based on each tier. Below is some information from the project site:
This is a NON PROFIT mission By Fans, For Fans, to completely restore the STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION D Bridge Set that Paramount created for display after the original set was destroyed for the film “STAR TREK: GENERATIONS”.
This duplicate set was created under the supervision of Herman Zimmerman and Michael Okuda.
Once completed, it will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC for Meetings, Movie Showings, Fund Raisers, Tours, Fan Filming, anything! Our INDIEGOGO Campaign will be continuing until early December, with new items constantly being added.
We will not just be restoring it, we will UPDATING it to be exactly as it was seen on the TV Series with ACTUAL WORKING TOUCH SCREEN COMPUTERS CONTROLLING THE BRIDGE!
It will be programmed in LCARS style, where people can warp, fire photon torpedoes, Red Alert, fight Borg, Romulans, Klingons, with the lights and sounds of the TV series. It will be the equivalent of a totally interactive video game, the likes of which has never been achieved!
Until our set is complete, we will be visiting conventions with pieces from our bridge, as they are restored. By October, we will have completed Picard’s Captain’s Chair on display for fans to sit in and take photos in.
OUR INCENTIVES WILL CONTINUE TO GROW EACH WEEK as More companies endorse us, including ABRAMS BOOKS and ENTERTAINMENT EARTH!The Shirts will not be available until December, we apologize. Although we will be selling them at our Convention Appearances!
Our set cost originally over $600,000 to create in the 1990’s. With the help of Friend and Fans, our Funding Goal, as high as it is, is a fraction of what this would cost were we not receiving help from numerous companies, all willing to help our cause.
If you would like to boldly go where you have never gone before and help donate to this project, you can click the widget in the beginning of the article. You can donate enough to even have dinner or a private night on the bridge when the project is done. So are you a Star Trek Fan? Which Star Trek version is your favorite? Who is you favorite Star Trek character? As always I thank you for reading, and sharing, and have a great day. Tom.
