The stuff made of nightmares. I had one the other night and while Nightmares usually don’t scare me, this one took me off kilter a little. While I won’t get into what it was about, I just wonder what you think of them? I don’t scare easy, and it takes allot to shake me up, maybe chalk that up to being in the Military and being a Paramedic all these years, but when one does hit me, it makes me wonder, what was it for, and what can I learn from it. Sometimes fragments always escape me, and those are the points I probably need to finish the puzzle, but its when you have the same dream more than once, that is kinda scary.
So what scares you about your dreams, do you feel they are something trying to tell you something? or just like going to the movies for our mind? Would love to hear your thoughts, and as always, thanks for reading, and have a great day! Tom.

Amy Adams says
I have a repetitive dream of my gang-rape when I was 14 that happened 40 years ago. I repressed it and it has now decided it wants me to deal with it. I am, but I continue to have the nightmare periodically. I don’t have it every night but the nights I do have it leave me pretty shaken up. I am not sure why I have it on the nights I do, whether it’s because the days are particularly stressfull or what the trigger is, I just have them. I usually just go ahead and get up and start my day. However, I now also suffer from flashbacks (daytime nightmares) that have added to my stress level. I think once I deal with the issue at hand the flashbacks and nightmares will leave. But, until then, I will have them and the unpleasant tasks of dealing with them. How do you deal with yours?

I am sorry to hear that happened to you Amy, dealing with nightmares that can invade how you respond in the daytime can be difficult, I think some of my stem from my times in Desert Storm/Shield, and mostly when I had a 4000 pound van fall on me during a rescue. How I deal with them varies, but mostly I try to find something out of the dream if I remember it, and try to look for something to do that would counteract that part during the day. Stopping to take deep breaths help, but I am not sure there is a magic answer on how to deal with them. I do know that what traumatizes us are the biggest culprits, and maybe finding groups for say my PTSD (Post Trauma Stress Syndrome), and having others to talk to are effective ways too. Again thanks for sharing, I am sorry you had to go through that. I hope your nightmares stay away, and that you have nothing but sweet dreams. Tom.
