Part 3 continues with the next few systems I ever owned and this article continues off of Part 1, and Part 2 which you can read by clicking the links.
TurboGrafx-16 and Turbo Express (NEC, 1987) I remember picking up this system just shortly after I got back from South Korea, and was being stationed at Ft. Bragg, in North Carolina. It was a different take on systems because the system used Hu-Cards for their cartridges, basically it was just a cartridge without the casing. What was amazing was that the portable version, had a crisp screen, good sound, and it played the same Hu Cards! I still own a Turbo Express today. Non game related it used to have a TV tuner that connected to it, but with things going to digital, it no longer works, but was an amazing thing to own back then! My favorite games for it were:
- R-Type: is an amazing side scrolling shooter that really shines on this system, and to play in on the go on the Turbo Express was just as good!
- BomberMan: was a great game that allowed you to plant bombs and move, bombs and move to defeat your enemies, just classic game play, and fun on the go was well!
- Power Golf: Just a well put together golf game for the time, fun to play, great graphics, a must own in your collection.
To wrap this series up, I also owned the Super Nintendo (SNES), Sega Genesis System, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, PlayStation 2, and the Wii. Now there are many systems that I wanted to own, and a few I own now that are part of my collection, my goal is to collect one of each system from the beginning till current systems. So what do you remember playing when you were a kid? Did you have a favorite system? were you the envy of all your friends? Would love to know your thoughts and experiences, as always, I do appreciate you being here, and hope you have a wonderful day! 🙂
On a side note, I am looking for a Vectrex Video Game System, if you know anyone that has one, or if you have one that you would be interested in selling, please get a hold of me using the contact form at the top of the site! Thanks again, and have a fantastic day!
