I was given an opportunity to review the StandScan Pro, and I love my gadget related items here at A Medic’s World, so I am honored to bring you this review. StandScan provided me a StandScan Pro to use for the purpose of this article. So here we go.
The StandScan has the following attributes going for it:
- Portability – Since it collapses flat and comes together easily with everything attaching together using magnets, it is easy to carry with you in your bookbag or computer bag due to its size.
- Affordability – For only $19.95 for the StandScan, or $29.95 for the StandScan Pro, you cannot go wrong for the price for something that can provide quite a few features
-
Usability – It can work with any camera enabled smartphone, android or iOS, it also worked with my iPod touch which is what I used to test it. It can be used to scan documents, and take pictures that you can use for auctions, and record keeping.
The top 3 pictures show the assembled StandScan on my Kitchen Island, and the underside of the top of the StandScan where you will see the strip of LED lights that you will find in the PRO model. The bottom 3 pictures show a couple of items I took pictures with using my Apple Ipod Touch. You can see if the item is slightly glossy like the picture of the football card, you will get some glare from the lights, in those cases I recommend not using the lights if you are using the Pro version. The picture of the diecast helicopter came out crisp and clear, and is auction ready now.
The Pro version comes with 2 different adapters one to use the lights with a AC Plug, and the other adapter allows you to use a 9-volt battery for when you are somewhere where you don’t have an outlet to use. So for those who would use this for more on the go situations, this is a perfect use for that.

So do I like it, yes. I will give it 4 out of 5 stars. It is portable, easy to use, and could be used by a number of different people, just a few ideas would be a Notary Public, Insurance Adjusters, people who sell on eBay or Etsy, Accountants, Lawyers, or anyone that would need to scan and send documents quickly. The only thing I can see that I wish was different was the AC Outlet plug to be longer, other than that, this is a great product. You can also find StandScan on Facebook and Twitter.
I was given the StandScan Pro to do the review with, but was not provided with any other compensation for the review. The opinions are my own, and not influenced by any other sources. As always I thank you for being with me here at A Medic’s World, hope you enjoyed the review, and have a great day. Remember to smile!

I’ve been thinking about getting a scanner to put my receipts into rhe computer.
Tom Shewbridge says
While this would not be good for that, there are plenty of great things that would, like Flip-Pal Portable Scanner, I love mine! I did a review you can check out here —> Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner Review

I use to scan a lot of books, cause I like to read them and make some annotation and highlights on my laptop or iPad. Since my portable scan is not enough for some old books, I think it would work. Thanks for the information!

Hadn’t heard of this but can definitely see the use. Love that it is small and not very expensive plus works well.

It looks a bit odd! Was it easy to use? It has a good light display! I do not own a smart phone or anything like that so it probably would not work for me with a computer!
Tom Shewbridge says
As far as a normal light box, no. But if you do have a smartphone or ipod touch (which is what I used) it works well. I like the convenience of it, and often take it with me on Vacation if its raining (folds up nicely) when there is downtime.

This is a very cool tool. This would definitely help me save time when trying to put pictures and files(like resumes) on my phone. Thank you for the review.

I don’t have a SmartPhone, but everyone else in my family does. I don’t know if they’ve seen this before, but I’m going to ask them. That think is neat, especially since my dil and I are always taking photos!

Fantastic review!! Thanks!

I love mine, easy to transport, convenient enough, and very light, compared to even portable scanners, and light boxes.

I have been looking for some sort of scanning device that is great and compatible with my iphone or any smartphone for that matter. For the money, I figured I better get a really good one and this is one that I might actually consider getting in the near future. Thanks for doing this review.

I would like to know how well it would do on items that are more 3D. Or will it only work on flat items?
Tom Shewbridge says
If you look at the picture of the diecast car I took in the package you can see that it does do well with dimension, I didn’t think to do anything solid from an eyes point view, now I will have to go back and test that. But I do enjoy it very much overall.

It can work with an iPod touch as well. Or any little device that has a camera on it.
