The United States Air Force has striven to make some of the technology and science challenges easier by collaborating with scientists, students, and innovators that can bring their skills along with the resources the Air Force has, and create something better than what already exists.
This is the third Air Force Collaboratory that has allowed others to help make a difference in a technology driven world!
The GPS IIF series is the next generation of Air Force GPS satellites, an integral part of a space-based navigation system that gives three-dimensional location, velocity and timing information for GPS users around the world.
Technological advances from this exciting project will enhance navigation and detection capabilities and can save lives in combat, search and rescue, and humanitarian missions.
The Video below describes how the collaboration works, their intentions, what goals they want to meet, and how it all comes together.
What is amazing is that even though this is the third project, all 3 of them have been unclassified. This allows you to fully understand what the collaboration’s mission is, without all the red tape.
Being a Paramedic, I love the aspects of the project that focus on search and rescue, and GPS positioning. These allow rescuers a better chance of saving more lives, both civilian and Military. I am also an Army Veteran, so I can appreciate the work that this will do to help save soldiers as well.
So check out the project, lots of information on the site, if you have something to contribute to the GPS launching, and technical side of that, they are very eager to here what you might have to offer to make the project a success!
