I have to simply admit, I love board games. I have been playing them ever since I was a kid, and Monopoly has always been one of my favorites to play, and I am not that bad at it too. I like to do a lot of wheeling and dealing, and controlling the board.
I was given an opportunity by the fine folks over at USAopoly to review this particular version, and let you know what I think. I was not compensated in any other way and opinions are mine, and expressed solely as something I like to share, and believe in.
I am sure in some time of your life we have all played the standard edition of Monopoly. You have to buy when you can, sell when you only absolutely have to, build up your properties, and take everyone to the bank. Yes its a cutthroat world out there, but someone has to be in charge of it all! So add the theme of The Wizard of Oz in the mix and what you get is a fantasy world filled with endless hopes.
So what does it include?
- Beautiful 3-D Pop-Up Game Board – starts in B&W and transforms into color just like the movie
- 6 Collectible tokens: RUBY SLIPPERS™, SCARECROW™ diploma, COWARDLY LION™ Medal, TIN MAN™ Heart, TOTO™ and WICKED WITCH™ Hat.
- Red dice that glitter as brightly as Dorothy’s red slippers
- Houses are replaced by Farm Houses
- Hotels are turned into Emerald City
My wife and I put it together, and took some pictures, and some of the detail that the game has. I can see us playing this for decades to come, along with family and friends, just a beautiful rendition of the game, and one that I think every household should own.
I wanted to share one picture by itself first, and that is of the tray, it is one of the most organized trays I have ever seen for a board game. I simply love this thing, and give big kudos to USAopoly in a fantastic design feature for the game.
Here are some of the rest of the pictures we took, enjoy!
With the beautiful layout, gorgeous Black/White to Color progression, houses that turn into Emerald City(s) when converted, the play pieces, everything was well thought out. Again, definitely will be a staple game to play in our household, I think it should be in yours as well. So where to get yours? You can grab your own copy of the game here at Amazon, right now it is only $41.63 and you can get it with free super saver shipping as well!

We love playing Monopoly and have since we were kids. I have never seen the Wizard of Oz Monopoly though. This is so cool and I love the set up of the board. Thanks so much for sharing.

I really like the color conversion too. So clever to think of that feature. I findit interesting that the characters were not chosen as game pieces. My favorite piece is the witch’s hat.

Ok, I like that it starts in black & white & turns to color! That’s clever. I was so afraid of those flying monkeys as a kid! LOL.
