Hey everyone, I usually try to stay away from political news and events, as it can cause turmoil from different views that people have. I post this today because I want to say it truly upset me. Here is the President of the United States getting off of the Presidential Helicopter, and salutes two Marines with a coffee cup in his saluting hand.
I am a Veteran of the U.S. Army, I served for a total of 8 years. I did almost five on active duty, and the rest with the National Guard here in Ohio. I served in Desert Storm/Desert Shield for almost a year. I helped prep our unit for the deployment in Panama when there was trouble there. I proudly served my country, did as I was told, and performed my duties, and function to the highest standard, and I have awards and medals to prove that.
What the President did today was not only embarrassing, but just showed a mockery I believe of him holding the title Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and a disrespect to our country as a whole. I think it showed the lack of respect that the country needs, and shows other nations the complacency and weakness that he showed by doing this.
I am including the video below, and I can share with you one more time that as a former soldier, I would be sick at my stomach if he saluted me like that, especially if I hold high regards for his title and position.
So what are your thoughts? Please keep it clean, any profanity or over the top remarks will not be published. Thanks for taking time to read this. ~Tom
