First of all I have to admit something. I am not a Dad. Not to say I don’t want to be, but officially in the books, as far as I know, I am not a Father. Why is this important? Well, I attended the Dad 2.0 Summit for a variety of reasons, and this is what I found out for myself along this couple day journey.
Best Buy Ambassador
Recently, in the past few weeks, I was newly appointed as one of four male ambassadors to join Best Buy in further promoting the brand, focus, and the mission of the company. Best Buy restructured its blogging platform to accommodate male bloggers on the Ambassador Team. The blogging network had been female centric prior to this, and they saw the benefit of having male bloggers who could help add a different voice to the program.
I was given an opportunity to attend this conference at Dad 2.0 as Best Buy was one of the Primary Sponsors of the event. Along side the other male ambassadors which included myself, Mitch, Joel, and Colby, one of the female ambassadors Staci was there as well. Together we helped man the Best Buy booth at the conference during different times discussing the blogging network with other attendees, while also talking about brands that were with us there at the booth like Dyson, Motorola, and Go Pro.
Interacting with other bloggers on that level was exhilarating for me. I loved being able to share my passion about being an Ambassador and also sharing a fantastic company like Best Buy and how it affects customers, and readers of our blogs about reviews that we do. I loved being able to help demo some of the newer technology that Dyson, Go Pro, and Motorola were sharing, also meeting the Reps and Sponsors from those companies was instrumental in gaining insight on what is next for Best Buy and how it will continue to be the place to go for all your technology needs.
Passion of the Dad’s at the Event
One thing I noticed from the start as I began meeting other attendees and promoters of the summit, was what dedicated fathers they were, and how they all exuded a sense of loyalty, respect and commitment not only to their family, but as being a true Dad, someone who took the role seriously, and wanted to get better at it, not only for their own sake, but for that of the family as well. I saw men who stepped up and took the title of “Dad” seriously, and wanted to better understand how to balance work, life, kids, and family to have that balance needed. So I am thankful to have met so many stand up fellows, who represented themselves in a loving, caring, and professional way. Thank you.
Interacting with other Sponsors
One of the treats for me as a blogger was getting to interact with different brands/companies that fit the niche of who I am, and what I represent here at A Medic’s World. It was amazing to meet so many wonderful PR and Marketing individuals who were excited about their brands, and the impact they have not only on our lives, but those of the readers that follow us on our blogs.
Lego Star Wars event at Lucas Films LTD.
One of the highlights of the conference for me, was getting to attend a very “hush, hush” limited event at Lucas Films LTD. Under an embargo I can’t talk about everything I saw, but let me ensure you that there are some big things happening for the Star Wars Lego Universe. This is monumental because it all occurs right before the big release of the next major Film in the Star Wars universe in December. So keep an eye out for news, and join in the fun once it all begins. I had the chance to see some of the facility, see some never seen before footage for what is next between Lego and Star Wars, and got to take some amazing pictures of props, and even one with R2D2 himself!
People I Would Like to Thank
Best Buy: Angela Chambliss and Stacy Gregory for not only inviting me to this conference, but allowing me to join the Best Buy Ambassador Team, and be part of something bigger than myself right now. Simply Love it.
Kidde Fire Safety: I want to thank Jen Busfield for sharing some great information about new fire protection and technology to keep your home safe. Thanks so much for making it easy to talk to you.
The other fine sponsors that I met like Tree Top Inc, Dove Men Care, Smarty Health, Pic Monkey, and Netgear. Also want to give a special shout out to Kia Motors, on arriving in San Francisco they were giving rides from the Airport to the Hotel/Conference for free, so thanks so much to them.
And last but not least, Lego. Thank you for an amazing event.
For being my first major blogging event, I am glad I was able to attend this, it not only inspired me to be better than I am already am, but gave me the confidence, and ability to seek out other conferences that will assist me in achieving my goals with A Medic’s World, and again not only for it to be my little speck in the Universe, but to be yours too!
Thanks so much for taking time to check this out, I look forward to any comments you have below, and seek me out on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and everywhere else I am, and lets connect, learn, and benefit from friendships to last for years to come. ~Tom
