We should all remember why we get this day off. While people will be partying, or visiting family, maybe doing some yard-work or housework, maybe just lounging around. Let’s remember why we get a chance to do all of this. Memorial Day is so important to me.
Soldiers and Civilians have sacrificed their lives in the defense of our country and way of life. I am including Civilians because often times it might have been an agent that does something heroic, or a nurse, a doctor, or just a plain citizen that has given their life to protect ours.
I am a Veteran, and I served in Desert Storm/Shield and I have lost friends, and comrades that have given the ultimate gift to others, when they died defending what we believe in. People confuse this day to honor Veteran’s and while we need to, this day is to honor those who didn’t get to come home, those who didn’t get to go back to their families, their children, their spouses. Those are the people we need to cherish and honor on this day!
So I personally salute all those who did sacrifice all that they were in order for all of us to live in freedom today.
