Time. 14 years of it. Well, a little more than that actually, but 14 years of physically being married. On 10/5/2002 my wife said that magical word to me “Yes”.
Which was better than “Hell No, are you kidding me?”, that would have been pretty bad I would think, and kind of embarrassing don’t you think?
So some things have happened in those years: We took a few mini road trips, we built a house, took a few more road trips, took a long one from Ohio to Las Vegas, with stops both there and back, we have conquered some winters, and we have survived me transitioning from a 24 year Paramedic to a blogger.
We have grown over the years to get through challenges that have faced us. If we have an issue with something, we always talk about it before getting mad over something that doesn’t need to escalate.
What has been the strongest point of our marriage? We are Best Friends! Really, we are. I grew up knowing quite a few people, and I had a best friend growing up, but not like this. It’s different, she is a best friend on a different level, and will always be that to me.
Saturdates. (see what I did there? Saturday and Dates together.) We have them at least 46-48 weeks out of the year. Sure we go out on other days, or nights, we are rebels that way, but we made a commitment to have Saturdates for us, no matter what.
Every marriage has its ups and downs. I am happy and lucky that I can say ours has been mostly up. I am working everyday to keep it that way.
So Michelle, I love you. From the day I first saw you, to the day I can’t see you anymore, I will always love you. You are my inspiration, and the reason I live for each day. Thank you.
So how long have all of you been married? if you are single, when are you getting married? What do you do to make your Marriage special? If this has inspired you, please share this article with others, buttons to share them are at the top and bottom!
Have a great day everyone, thanks for being part of Tom’s Take On Things. ~Tom and Michelle

Happy Anniversary to you and Michelle! I follow your husbands blog because he seems like such a genuinely nice fella, and plus he has served like my husband did.Your smile is beautiful, and you look as lovely as you did when you were a young bride.
Hubby and I have been married a bit over 30 years (this last June) plus add a few years before that!
I hope you both had a wonderful day and made a memory to last through the year until your next anniversary!

What a beautiful story Tom! Congratulations to you and Michelle. I’ve been married 26 years and I agree with you there are ups and down and we too have had mostly ups. My husband was the boy next door and I’ve known him since I was 4.
How did you and Michelle meet?
Tom Shewbridge says
Thanks so much Joie, 26 years is awesome! That is a long time to know someone! We actually met online, and it has worked. Right time, right place I always believe.
