There are times when I think we all want to start off the day with a good vibe. Why not start that feeling while taking a shower, and listening to some music to spark your day, with this Bluetooth Shower Speaker. I was given an opportunity by GearBest to review their Water Resistant Shower Speaker, below you will find my thoughts and opinions, and if this is something that might work for you.
There was not much to the packaging, you have the Speaker with built on suction cup, the usb power cord to recharge it, and an instruction and service guide. The color I requested was red, and even though on the website it does say red, it really is more of a pinkish color. Not a horrible thing, just that I like natural red better.
I think the thing that stands out most about it, is its versatile uses, from suctioning it to the dash on the car, or RV. You can suction it to the shower wall since it is water resistant, and you can also suction it to the back of your iPod or iPad, to use it to not only listen to music, or video but to use it as a prop stand as well.
After I let it charge, I connected it to my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone and my Apple iPad 2. With Bluetooth on, and a press of the power button on the speaker, the two paired quickly, and I was on my way. I tested the sound with some songs I have on my phone as well as my iPad, and tried playing Farm Heroes Saga too, lastly I tried a video from Netflix. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the amount of sound that came out of this baseball sized speaker.
With the controls on top, it was easy to adjust the sound by holding the button down either way, you can change the song by just pressing the forward and backwards button once, and it does have an option to take a call with the receiver button when paired with a phone. There is a built in mic, so you might get interrupted in the shower while singing!
Some pictures I took of the one I received:
Things I definitely like about the speaker:
- Use it in the Shower, Car, RV, prop up your iPhone/iPad/iPod, or any other Bluetooth enabled phone or tablet
- Water Resistant
- Big Sound from a Small Device
- Suction Cup makes it easy to position for best use.
- Price
- Free Shipping!
A couple of things I didn’t like about the speaker:
- Did not like that it was pinkish in color when it says Red. I love the actual color Red.
- It takes 3 hours to charge, for only 6 hours of use. While that means you might be charging it every 4-6 days, I think the ratio for charge to use is a little off.
Big Question, to buy or not to buy? I think it is a buy, a good 4 out of 5 stars. For the great sound you get for the under $15 price tag, I think you are getting a great value in a versatile and functional speaker like this one.
