I was given an opportunity by the fine folks over at Perform to try out and evaluate some of their products here at A Medic’s World. The ones supplied to me were the Roll-on and the quick Pain Relieving Singles. Opinions are my own, and I have experience with them in the past in previous jobs I have worked.
Over the past 25 years, my body has been through everything when it comes to pain. I have suffered from injuries which occurred in the Army, all the way through my Paramedic Career, with even a 4000 pound passenger van falling on me during a rescue back in October of 1998. So if its one thing I know about it is pain. My back, knees, elbows, and wrists are all shot. So I have constant pain of about a 8 to 10 out of 10 daily. For me, relief does not come easy, but with a combo of treatment ideas, I do get some time where things aren’t aching, or I am having muscle spasms all the time.
The last 5 years of my Paramedic career I worked at an occupational clinic, where the Therapist used BioFreeze, made by the same company. Perform is their home use brand, and is just as good as the clinical side. There were days there, that I found myself using some of that, just to get through the day.
The Roll-on is easy to use, just invert it to where you are using it, press down to fill the head of it, and rub it around the area that you are needing to treat. It offers a grease-less application, and dries in minutes. It does not take long for you to feel it working as the absorption into the skin does not take that long. I was also given an chance to review the Pain Relieving Singles, and I love these for one main reason! Easy to take when you are planning to travel. Just pack a handful of these with you, I keep a small med bag in my rolling suitcase anyways with travel size medicines, band-aids, ace-wraps, etc… so these are an easy addition to that little bag. Just snap the “wings” as they are called towards each other, and the liquid fills the gauze pad and its ready to apply. When you are done, just throw it away. Ten come to a box of those, an essential item that should be in every home in my opinion.
Give them a try, you will find that they work for almost any situation that you use them in, not really a fault in the product, but the smell for me is the only reason I gave 4 our of 5 stars, while it is not too over powering like other products made by other companies, it does carry its own unique smell, but since it is a menthol based product that is the only reason why.
So where can you get your own Roll-on? Grab one here at Amazon for $9.49, or you can try my favorite way to have them in the Pack of 10 Singles by getting those here for $14.04 and have them ready for that next travel destination, road trip, keep them in a pouch on your bicycle, or in a pouch while you run, easy to carry and use. If you are a traditionalist and prefer Gel, you can grab a 4 ounce tube here, for only $9.49 as well.
