The Art of Lego Scale Modeling Book Review

One thing that has transcended from my childhood into the life I have now has been Lego’s.  Why?  because they bring out the best of everyone.  They allow you to explore your imagination and give you the ability to build whatever your heart and mind can conceive in most cases.  The Art of Lego Scale Modeling is a book that discusses and shares pictures of Lego models that are so realistic like ones of real trucks, ships, planes, race cars and construction vehicles.

There were some amazing projects and builds in this book that was written by Dennis Glaasker and Dennis Bosman.  Some of these will take time and patience to learn how to do, but if you love Lego’s as much as I do, and truly want to recreate things that you love like Ambulances and Fire Engines, then this book will inspire you to learn techniques that will help you start your journey.

While I believe the book was more to display the talents of 24 of the worlds best Lego scale modelers, in pictures that have to be seen to be believed, it does talk briefly about getting started, storage, and talks about special bricks.

This would make an excellent Coffee Table book to allow others to enjoy the pictures and descriptions of all these amazing custom models that the builders had to find ways to make it perfect to look like the real thing.

I love the book, it was amazing to see all the wonderful Scale Models that all these builders did.  I wish the authors would have listed more sources of information to find things like decals, special bricks, and things to help you design your own project.  While they did list one or two sites that they mentioned, I think it would have been nice to provide more sources of sites or company’s that could help you find everything you need if you were to start your own design.

This book would be perfect for any Lego Fan, but also anyone who wants to recreate something they drive, or work in, to display and have others enjoy.  I plan to find ways to recreate Ambulances, Fire Engines, and maybe Police Cars so that I can have an accomplished feeling that I can do it too.   You can grab this book at Amazon, and it would make a great addition to your coffee table or book shelf, and would make an excellent Christmas Gift as well.  (it is coming soon!)  ~Tom
