How many of you love seeing your dog run and play during the summer? For many of us, nothing is better than seeing our dogs have a good time. The problem, however, is making sure they have a safe place to play off-leash – like a dog park! Unfortunately, many communities have a limited budget, making dog parks a far-off dream for many dog owners. Wanting to see dogs everywhere enjoy summer in a safe off-leash environment, PetSafe® brand is excited to announce their sixth annual “PetSafe Bark for Your Park™”program!
PetSafe brand developed and launched the nationwide Bark for Your Park program in 2011 to help communities build their own off-leash dog park. In order to help even more communities make their dog park dreams come true this year, PetSafe brand is restructuring the contest into a grant-giving program and increasing the number of awards from five to 25.
“In the past five years, we’ve given away over $850,000 to communities to build dog parks of their own, but now we want to help communities during every stage of development,” said Tracy Mulder, marketing manager, PetSafe brand. “Our new Bark for Your Park program is expanding to not only help break ground on new parks, but also help fund maintenance and improvements for existing parks.”
To make sure more communities can build and maintain dog parks, they are trying something new this year with grant applications. Through this new system, more communities will have a chance to receive money for dog parks. You can see the breakdown of grant money below.
Don’t worry, the applications aren’t super complicated and only require you to provide proof of land for the park and a signed letter from one city official to confirm that if they win, they will use the money for the dog park. PetSafe brand even provides downloadable letter templates for you to use. You can find the full application for the grant here! Hurry though, since the last day to submit is June 30, 2016.
