Enjoy Sugar Free and Gluten Free Vodka from Devotion

My first alcohol related review here at Tom’s Take On Things.  I am featuring some Vodka made by the fine folks over at Devotion.  I have always wanted to get into this area of reviews, so I am excited that you are all taking this journey with me.

I was sure it was possible but up until a few weeks ago, I really never new a sugar free or gluten free alcohol could exist.  I have heard of light beers but nothing sugar free when it came to spirits.

I was given an opportunity to request the Pure and Blood Orange varieties of their Vodka.  They also have blackberry and blueberry combined in a flavor called Black and Blue.   Let’s not forget about wild cherry, coconut, tiki and perfect cosmo as well.

I tried the Pure bottle first.  No flavors, just straight up Vodka.  I poured it into my martini glass full of ice.  Not exactly knowing what to expect I took a sip and then I came to the realization that this tastes like Vodka.  I will let you in on a little secret.  I was really skeptical and thought to myself there is no way this is going to taste like other brands I have had before.  They said it was sugar and gluten free.   I was proven wrong.

Next was the Blood Orange flavored Vodka.  I never had blood orange flavored anything before so this was going to be a surprise no matter what.  This flavor has a great kick to it! I enjoyed it so much, I had to have a second glass of it.  Prominent taste of orange was present and I found it had a much stronger flavor profile than the Pure bottle that I tried first.  Asking for this flavor was a win win for me as I found a new Vodka to add to my shopping list in the future.  You would never guess that this is gluten and sugar free.

These would work well with quite a few mixed drink recipes.  It also helps you stay gluten free if you want to add your own items.  I was amazed that these are 80 proof and still tastes like Vodka.  It comes down to not judging a book by its cover in this case.  Just because it’s gluten and sugar free doesn’t mean it can’t taste great.

Check with your local stores for it or maybe beverage stores in your area.  If they don’t carry it, ask if they can order it for you.  Most places might be accommodating if you are nice enough.
