As we are all aware. Unexpected emergencies or accidents happen, like having a leaky water heater or washing machine. What if you could be notified if either of those occurred? Well, you can with the Leak Detector from Delta.

I was given an opportunity by Delta to review the Delta Leak Detector right here on Tom’s Take On Things. I love being prepared, it is one of the things even after a 24-year career as a Paramedic, I always think “if there is a way to prevent something, use it!”.
Long ago, back in the days that I was going to Paramedic school, I used to help manage an apartment building to cover my rent while I finished my courses. There were leaky toilets and the laundry room to contend with. With something like this, I could have helped prevent permanent damage by getting notifications when something went wrong.
It was extremely easy to set up. I placed the batteries in, download the app which is available for iOS and Android, clicked the button once on the leak detector and used the app to set it up. Must have taken all of 3 minutes to type in the information, pick my wi-fi network and sync the device.
I placed our unit next to the washer to make sure we would never have a hose leak or even leaking from the Washer itself. This is in an area we really want to protect. We added an addition to our home a few years ago and our washer and dryer are placed there. We would hate for all of that wonderful work to get damaged.
Now you can use it where you feel the safest, or just pick up a couple of multi-packs to get the coverage you need. Place it under the water tank, next to a laundry sink, what about a large water filter or under the sink in the kitchen?
Now, all we had to do was test it. So I dribbled a little bit of water on top of the unit first. I also tested it with water pooling on the floor under the device to make sure it worked. You can see what happened in the screenshot from my android phone below.
It also sent me a text alert which I also programmed to go to my wife’s phone in case I was not available.
This device will give you the peace of mind you need when it comes to things in your house that are water-related that you don’t want to see major damage from in the future. So if you are traveling or on vacation, you would be able to get ahold of that friend or family member to go check on things while you were away.
This smart device can keep you guarded. And you have a chance to win one from Delta themselves. Just follow the easy steps below. #LeakDetectSweepstakes

This is pretty nifty, I have never seen anything like it. It would have went haywire here a few weeks ago when our hot water heater sprang a huge leak! 50 gallons of water.

This should be on a homeowner’s list of must-haves! This is a much more tech-y detector, which is awesome! It would have saved me a lot of headache (and money!) when I first bought my home.
