Months later after doing the review for FixMeStick I find that I am still virus and Mal Ware free. Why? Because I regularly run the FixMeStick on my main computer as well as my laptop to be sure that that my anti-virus programs aren’t missing anything! How FixMeStick does this is that it runs using Linux based software on its own USB Drive, that takes Windows out of the equation, and does not allow the virus/ mal ware to hide or reproduce. You can read my original review of the FixMeStick here.
You can order your own FixMeStick for $59.99 and that covers up to 3 computers. You can click the link provided or click the banner to buy your own. If you wish to get it from Amazon you can get it there for the same price and it qualifies for free super saver shipping! I can’t tell you how many times AVG or Spyware removers have missed something but this really does catch the ones they miss!

I think I’ll look into this further it’s a really cool concept and easy to do. I like the idea and think it would be easy to remember to use it! Thanks for the post.

Seems credible! I got such a terrible virus one time, a computer genius almost couldn’t fix it. Perfect for someone like me who constantly forgets to run updates and check to see even I even have virus protection.

Since I am on the computer every day doing all sorts of things, contests, research and the like it seems I live in constant fear even though my poor laptop is going to get “sick”. Sounds like a sound investment!

Wow! I never knew that this existed and it is wonderful that it does. I am not very computer literate but my son is going to be very interested in this post.

Runs Linux? Hmm. So would this be the equivalent of using a regular USB drive to open an in-USB-drive browser safely on a questionable (public) computer, except you use the FixMeStick to produce your own little safe haven OS? That was a confusing way to ask a question lol. Here’s a better version:
Reg USB drive w/ Google Chrome in it (not just a shortcut)—> Safe browsing ?= FixMeStick —> Safe computing overall
I made it sound even more confusing.
Lol.

Hi Bobby, I get what you are saying, and that is a good question, the only fear that I would have doing it your way, is unless the reg usb drive is a bootable drive, and able to start the computer in safe mode from the start, I am still wondering if a Virus or malware is buried in memory, or hiding that it couldn’t possibly infect the reg usb drive? With the FixMeStick, it takes Windows completely out of the equation, not allowing it to run at all while the software is doing its thing in Linux? Not sure if I answered your question if not, I could try to get further information. Tom.

Hmm good point Tom. The person who told me that reg USB stuff (running a browser from a reg USB drive is safe on questionable computers) is probably wrong. I definitely see the benefit of using the FixMeStick now 🙂 Thanks!
