**Local Review** – Steve’s Dakota Grill in Medina, Ohio

We have a gem of a restaurant not too far from our house. It is called Steve’s Dakota Grill. This is one of those places that you enjoy because of the great food, the ambiance, and the location.  While my birthday happened to be on February 10th, this was the first time that the whole family could get together and celebrate yesterday Sunday, February 24th.   We all have our different favorites,  but my brother-in-law chose this place a month ago for his birthday dinner.  My wife and I hadn’t been here in years, but due to the last two visits, we will becoming regular patrons again, as our experience was top notch both times. 

They offer a wide variety of food choices, steaks, pork, ribs, prime rib, chicken, burgers, salads and more.  While both recent visits were spectacular I will be focusing mainly on the visit we just had for my birthday, yesterday the 24th.  My wife, one sister-in-law, and my brother-in-law all had the full slab of ribs which they said were fall off the bone goodness.  I personally don’t like ribs, but I have to comment they did look and smell good.  My Mother-in-law had petite filet medallions and scallops, and while I am not a scallop eater I can say they were huge, and nicely cooked as she commented.  My Father-in-law had a Chicken and Waffles combo that he said was tender but tasty chicken, and the waffles were just golden brown and the right consistency.  My other sister-in-law and myself both had the top round sirloin, and both our steaks were cooked to perfection, juicy, and well seasoned.

They all come with salad and a side for the meals.   I did not have any soup or appetizers but a majority of the family had the Lobster Bisque soup which they said was very creamy and tasted delicious.  There was really only one problem with the whole visit, they were out of Porterhouse Steaks, which is really what I wanted for my Birthday.  I usually always order a sirloin steak, or a Filet Mignon but this time I was tasting for that 24oz.  (yes a big steak) combo of strip and filet, but they were out of it.   Oh well.  Just my luck sometimes.

I was able to enjoy a couple glasses of a German Riesling with my meal, the wine was crisp and tasted divine.  The best part of the whole meal?  The dessert.  I had it the last time I went, but I had to get it again.  They have a brownie dessert to die for!  It is a homemade brownie I would say about 3 inches by 3 inches, covered with chocolate fudge sauces, caramel, 3-scoops of vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream.  I usually get it without the caramel and the whipped cream, but it comes out with the brownie piping hot, steaming, chewy and chocolatey goodness!  Add the ice cream and the chocolate fudge sauce, and it is a piece of pure heaven with each bite, the cost of this huge dessert, $8.99, really not a bad deal, if you are really hungry one person could finish it off, but I believe it was meant to be shared which I did.

Summary:  I love this place, my wife loves it, the family loves it.  I still wish they had the Porterhouse, but aside from that, the occasion was remarkable, and well enjoyed by all.  If you want a good meal, with that flavorful robust wood fired taste, this is the place to go, we will definitely be back, and I am still dreaming about the next time I can order that Brownie Delight Dessert, it is just that good!
