With all the recent stories of the natural disasters that have been occurring, it gives me continued thought, is Mother Nature getting her revenge? As a Paramedic and a part of this earth, I am saddened by all the death and destruction that has been going on in our world from earthquakes, tornado’s, hurricanes, tsunami’s, sink holes, and other disasters that have caused so much suffering.
The question to think is, are these getting worse because of all that we have done to the Planet? I am like you or anyone else, I use gas to fill my Nissan Xterra, I don’t recycle enough, and I should be more active in finding out what are lawmakers are doing about Global issues. All of that aside, for all that has happened to the Earth, all the drilling for oil, tapping natural gas, destroying forests and lands to build shopping malls and high end housing, don’t you think it is all too coincidental?
So lets some it up:
- We have drilled for oil all over the world
- We tap natural gas all over the world
- We tear down forests and blow up mountains for progress
- We pollute our air with chemicals, and by-products
- We litter
Are we doing enough to replace all of this? What happens when the Earth is unable to give any more? its not like we have a true viable option for life anywhere else. Yes they are talking about Mars, but it doesn’t have the resources like Earth does. So what do we do? Are we doing enough?
So what are some of the things you can do?
- Get in touch with your congressman and senators and find out what they are doing to help
- Recycle more, if your city doesn’t have a program, create one of your own, maybe get some neighbors involved, make it a chore for your kids, or maybe hire some local neighborhood kids to help organize a group of houses recyclables and pay them a few dollars. It might also teach them the importance of helping, and giving back
- I know they are more expensive and I am not saying to go out on a spending spree, but try to use eco-friendly products, ones that will not harm the air, or water, or ground
- Plant a tree, or two, or? Or donate to a organization that does that like ArborDay.org or find if any local or state parks are doing any fund raisers or looking for people to help plant trees
- Don’t turn the other way, I for too long have thought, could we all make a difference, as a group yes, as individuals that is harder unless we come together, so maybe just be a little more active in our World, that is all it might take
- Share this article with someone else, tell them you saw it and thought of them!
So do you currently do anything unique that tries to replenish or make a difference? What would you like to do if you could? Do you think Mother Nature is getting her revenge? As always I appreciate all of you for being here, and look forward to you coming back, please share the site with others, take a look around, and shoot me an email if you have an idea for the site? Have a great day, and remember to smile!

We do recycle a lot. Enough for me to shudder about how much more garbage we would create if we didn’t recycle. I would love to get a hybrid vehicle but the prices are still too high. Solar panels are also a plan for us but again, the money to do so just isn’t available.

Scary to think of how things are changing. We really don’t treat our planet with respect.

I agree. The storms and events keep on getting bigger and worse each year….

It is true that the weather patterns have been really strange. Here in the North East we go from 30s into the 60s overnight and then to the 90s and then back to the 40s. Storms, hurricanes, blizzards…I do hope Mother Nature gives us a chance to do better with the earth’s resources.

Maybe all of the destruction is God trying to tell us all to shape up. We don’t treat our fellow man with much respect anymore. We can’t even hold a door open for someone or say “thank you” when someone holds a door open for us. We have turned into a “me” society. I miss the days of “please” and “thank you” and just common respect for your fellow man.
