Pain is one of those things that we all never want to see, try to avoid, but inevitably it will find us, and cause us some discomfort, and the inability to do something at one point (or many points) in our lives. But what do you do? Do you stop to deal with it right away? Do you wait to see how much you can take before its too much? What is too much? What is your Threshold?
Pain is one of those things that will always need to be feared, to be respected, and for it to realize it can be beaten. Over 20+ years of being a Paramedic, and serving my time Active Duty with the U.S. Army, I have experienced pain in many ways. How you deal with it, defines you though. I have noticed in the past that often times I have had to work through it for the greater good, whether that be because a patient’s care needed focus, or our mission in the military took priority.
With that in mind, there are times that now and days, pain stops me in my tracks, no warning, no whistle, just a hard realization that I am getting older, and my body says “ha, ha” deal with this! but even then how far do you let it take you? Do you just completely give in, and try to hope it gets better? Or do you immediately try to find a way to beat it?
What ways do you take to conquer it? Do you take over the counter medicine, do you seek out a prescription?, do you look for a homeopathic way to ease the discomfort?, or a non-medical solution (like acupuncture, or a Chiropractor? ).
So how do you deal with pain, how do you cope? Is there a full proof way that you can get through it all the time? Would love to hear your thoughts, please share below!

I would love to read what other people do. I am immobilized at times by my pain but I do try to force myself as much as possible to push through it. I force myself to go out and have learned how to keep my face almost expressionless so that only those who know me well are aware of how horrendous I feel.
