Find the Right Sunglasses that Fit your Personality
Whether intentional or not, we tend to dress according to our personality. Shy people will stay away from bold, bright colors, while extroverts won’t be afraid to wear them at all times. The same goes for sunglasses: different people will feel good in different styles. To help you find the perfect sunglasses for your temperament, we put together this easy guide. Feel free to print it out and take it with you next time you’re shopping for sunglasses, whether it’s for yourself or for someone else.
There are four temperaments that we’ll discuss: sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic, the classic classification of people. But now let’s see: what to these imply?
Sanguine – charismatic and sociable, these people tend to enjoy being with other people. They’re extroverts, very talkative, and they lose interest easily. They’re also optimistic, and they like to stand out. The perfect sunglasses for a sanguine type are loud and visible, just like they are. An example are the Marc by Marc Jacobs 366 sunglasses ($62), which feature a bold color and a fun cat eye shape. Nothing says “look at me” like these frames!
Choleric – the businessman type, cholerics are good leaders. They’re passionate and ambitious, efficient and dominant. They are good at planning, and they like being in charge. The perfect sunglasses for them are aviators, since they suggest authority because of their association with pilots and policemen over the years. We picked the Ray Ban RB3029 ($99) to illustrate the case.
Melancholic – they are introverted and pessimistic, in a continuous quest for perfection. They prefer doing things on their own, and they’d rather not stand out. A good pair of sunglasses for them would be simple and classic, but large enough to hide behind. They should also be good quality, such as the Burberry BE 4068 ($133). These work because they’re plain black, based on function rather than something else.
Phlegmatic – they are relaxed and quite, often shy and afraid of change. However, they make friends easily and are faithful. They’re the most creative of temperaments, which means they’ll appreciate a special pair of sunglasses, in an unusual style or print. The Ralph Lauren RL8104W ($172) are just right, whether in a soft shade of pink or a green camouflage print.
