I am sure we have all played Yahtzee at one point in our lives, but I can assure you that we all haven’t played versions like these before. USAopoly kindly provided me with a couple themed versions for the purpose of this review. All opinions are mine, and might differ from yours.
First up we have the YAHTZEE®: Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, based on the famed and cult classic show from the BBC Network. Designed to look like the Tardis, this Police Box Replica allows you to play this version with dice that has some of the “Doctor’s” most feared enemies on them. Including: #1= Robot mummy, #2= The Silence, #3= Weeping Angel, #4= Sontaran, #5= Cyberman, and #6= Dalek , those Weeping Angel’s always gave me the creeps when watching the show, and yes, I am a die hard “Whovian” fan!
By far this is in my top 5 favorite ones to have, just even for the collectible side of it. The only thing that tops it is the YAHTZEE®: Firefly™ Collector’s Edition and you can catch my full review of that one here. I simply adore the Doctor Who Yahtzee Set, and think it would be a great addition to any family’s game night, or get it for the Doctor Who fan who would simply love this, grab yours here.
Up next, I want to take a look at the YAHTZEE®: The Walking Dead™ Collector’s Edition also by USAopoly. I will have to admit, and it is hard for me to say, I missed almost the first year of The Walking Dead, don’t ask me how, I am not sure, and it was a mistake I quickly made up for, binge watching the entire first season before picking up with Season 2. Now even further, the show just keeps gaining popularity.
You can’t go wrong with owning this version of Yahtzee, or buying it as a gift. With two different play styles, you can play the classic yahtzee way, or play “battle yahtzee” where you roll to survive with a special “custom chance” die that has walkers, first aid kids, or grenades on them. Can you survive your way through this unique game play? The Walker (zombie) cup is unique as you pull the top off, and there is the brain on the top half, use the cup part to roll and store everything when all done.
With the ability to play 2 different ways, and score pads for both, re-playability on this one is off the charts. Plus, let’s not forget that it is The Walking Dead we are talking about here. Grab yours here today, or make someone’s day and get them one!
So what do you think about them? would love to know…leave me some comments below. ~Tom
